Medical Terms relevant to Disconjugate Gaze

  • Disconjugate Gaze is a term used to describe the inability of a pair of eyes to move in one (or more) "conjugate" directions. This causes double-vision (diplopia). Click here for more information on diplopia. 
  • Cavernous Malformations are "are abnormally formed blood vessels" that "may leak blood, leading to bleeding in the brain or spinal cord (hemorrhage)." (Mayo Clinic Website
  • Nystagmus is "a condition where you can’t control your eye movement." The eye may shake uncontrollably in straight-ahead gaze or in specific directions. (WebMD Website)
